Cross-layer design for real-time grid operation: Estimation, optimization and power flow

In this paper, we propose a combined Online Feedback Optimization (OFO) and dynamic estimation approach for real-time power grid operation under time-varying conditions. A uses measurements to generate the information required by an OFO controller, that incrementally steers controllable injections set-points towards solutions of AC Optimal Power Flow (AC-OPF) problem. More concretely, quadratic programming-based guarantees satisfying operational constraints, like admissible voltage limits. Within estimation, design online flow solver efficiently computes approximations in real time. Finally, certify stability convergence conditions, validate its effectiveness on simulation with test feeder high resolution consumption data. • feedback optimization allows solve real-time.
